Description The UIC College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking one or more full time, motivated professionals for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to the UI Health’s Hospital Pharmacy Services Investigational Drug Services area.

Responsibilities The Clinical Faculty (open rank)/ Clinical Pharmacist in cooperation with Investigational Drug Services (IDS) staff will coordinate the receipt, distribution, and accountability of medications for investigational drug studies, ensure all regulatory requirements are met, direct activities performed by pharmacy externs, students, and residents, precept students and residents, provide didactic lectures, and serve as a resource for investigational drug studies.

• Review IDS protocol and prepare proper procedure for handling and distributing each investigational drug.
• Ensure the accuracy of investigational drug preparation by evaluating drug selection, administration route, labeling and recoding of activities in accordance with study drug protocols.
• Maintain accurate files of all open drug trials within IDS.
• Prepare medications for dispensing and/or check accuracy of all medications prior to dispensing.
• Supervise the daily activities of technicians and students concurrently scheduled, determine workload priorities, and provide feedback for evaluations to leadership.
• Precept pharm D students and pharmacy residents while on rotation in IDS.
• Assist with scholarly activities supporting the education of pharm D students.

Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
• PharmD from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program
• Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulations or eligible for such licensure.
• Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for an academic faculty position in Pharmacy Practice, UIC College of Pharmacy.
• Clinical experience and practice involving contemporary hospital pharmacy services including investigational drugs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base including practice involving contemporary hospital pharmacy services; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills; completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency; experience in the safe handling and preparation of IV admixtures and chemotherapy; and demonstrated compounding knowledge and skills.
