TOBACCO USE

The Illinois Council of Health Systems Pharmacists (ICHP) recognizes the addictive nature and severe health consequences of tobacco products and their use. Additionally, ICHP believes that the selling of tobacco products is inconsistent with the professional practice and responsibilities of pharmacists.

Therefore, ICHP supports the following:

Elimination of the sale of tobacco and tobacco products in and by all pharmacies
Implementation of smoke-free environments for all health care settings
Participation of pharmacists in delivering and promoting smoking cessation and prevention programs
