DRUG TESTING IN THE WORKPLACE

The Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (ICHP) supports drug testing in the workplace.  All pharmacy employees and job applicants must be informed of the employer’s policy regarding drug testing.  A written copy of the drug testing policy should be made available to all pharmacy employees.

Drug testing should be conducted when the pharmacy employer reasonably suspects impairment due to the employee’s inability to adequately perform assigned job duties.
