COLLABORATIVE DRUG THERAPY MANAGEMENT

The Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (ICHP) supports Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM). CDTM is a process of establishing protocols and/or standing orders in collaboration with physicians that are designed to give prescribing authority to pharmacists to carry out pre-defined components of patient care to optimize patient outcomes.  Pharmacists are medication use experts. Therefore, their expertise can be used to maximize patient outcomes and enhance efficiency in healthcare delivery systems.
