Description
- Administers operations of ICHP, assigning responsibilities and coordinating activities with assistance of the Executive Director. The President will conduct weekly calls with the Executive Director to accomplish this function.
- Establishes objectives for the year based on the strategic plan: discusses with officers.
- Promotes, influences and fosters the growth of the profession statewide and nationwide.
- Serves as the major contact person for ICHP with responsibility for the majority of the formal communications between ICHP and other organizations; communicates with Board members and officers of other organizations to advise and establish dialogue.
- Serves as a secondary link between ASHP and chapter members; communicates with ASHP staff members to provide and obtain information and assistance.
- Communicates with Council members and other Health-System pharmacists to seek grass-roots input and ideas; encourages participation of chapter members.
- Works with the Executive Director in setting agenda before Board meetings.
- Presides at all Council meetings.
- Works closely with the Director of Marketing Affairs to recruit new members and retain current members.
- Engages in written and verbal communication on behalf of the Council as needed.
- With the approval of the Board of Directors, calls meetings of the House of Delegates at any time upon written request from the majority of the members of the House.
- Signs checks when necessary on behalf of the Council.
- Serves as a member and Chairman of the Board.
- Serves as a member of the Committee on Finance and Chair of the Executive Committee.
- Serves as a member of the House of Delegates.
- Serves as ex-officio member of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy Advisory Committee.
- Assists Board members in defining responsibilities and timetables for projects.
- Assists Committee Chairmen in establishing guidelines and projects and in reviewing results.
- Appoints members to vacant positions except as otherwise provided in the Bylaws.
- Appoints the Chairman and members of the ICHP's Committees with Board approval annually.
- Appoints members to the Divisions of Service with the approval of the Director of the Division of Service and the Board of Directors annually.
- Appoints ad-hoc committees and chairmen thereof as deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities and programs of the Council.
- Writes a President's Column in every other KeePosted™.
- Provides a report to the House of Delegates at the Annual Meeting.
- Gives welcoming remarks at ICHP sponsored seminars.
- Authorizes the Divisions of Service to represent themselves as acting on behalf of the Council when contacting other organizations.
- Works closely with the Executive Director on behalf of the Council as needed.
Term of Office
- One year (this position ascends from the Office of President-elect and ascends to the Office of Immediate Past President).
Description
- Develops knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the President.
- Keeps abreast of current Council activities.
- Develops objectives and goals for his or her year as President.
- Develops knowledge of the Constitution and Bylaws, and of the Goals and Objectives of the Council.
- Serves as a member of the Committee on Finance and Executive Committee.
- Serves as a member and Vice Chairman of the Board.
- Serves as a member of the House of Delegates.
- Performs the duties of the President when the President is unable to do so.
- Assumes other responsibilities as directed by the President.
- Presents an address to the Annual Meeting of the Council.
- Plans ICHP Board of Directors planning retreat with the Executive Director for Presidential Year.
- Serves as Chairman of the Affiliate Chapter Presidents Committee.
Term of Office
- One year (elected from membership; ascends to the Office of President after one year).
Description
- Serves as a member and Secretary of the Board of Directors and records the minutes of each meeting of the Board of Directors.
- Presents an annual report at the House of Delegates describing Secretary's activities over the last year.
- Maintains a current listing of the officers of the Council and of its affiliated chapters; assures that the ICHP Executive Vice President reports any changes in Council officers to ASHP and submits a list of the new members of the Board of Directors to ASHP.
- Assures that KeePosted™ has a timely call for delegates for the ASHP House and the ICHP House.
- Works with the Executive Vice President to carry out the election of delegates to the ASHP and ICHP House of Delegates each year in October and November.
- Prepares for each Annual Meeting and House of Delegates meeting by directing ICHP office staff in:
- Preparing and distributing delegate kits.
- Inviting new officers to the House of Delegates.
- Calls for reports of Board of Directors at least six (6) weeks before the Annual Meeting.
- Distributes minutes of the House of Delegates to each delegate within 30 days of the last session of the House.
- Works with the Executive Vice President to prepare and distribute minutes of all Board of Directors meetings to all members of the Board of Directors and to the ASHP Member and Affiliate Relations Associate assigned to ICHP.
- Understands chapter policies and procedures; serves as Council Parliamentarian upon request.
- Represents the Council through written correspondence (shared with Executive Vice President).
- Trains the Secretary-elect.
- Works with the Executive Vice President to prepare and distribute meeting notices specifying the date, time, location and purpose of each meeting.
- Assures that the ICHP office maintains a current membership list.
- Maintains a current copy of the Official ASHP Chapter Officer's Manual.
- Serves as a member of the Committee on Finance and Executive Committee which meets monthly via conference call.
- Certifies the results of the election of delegates and alternates to the House of Delegates.
- Assures that the ICHP office receives nominations from the affiliate Nominating Committees for the House of Delegates not less than ninety (90) days before the Annual Meeting.
- Works with the Executive Vice President to prepare and distribute by mail to each active member of the Council a ballot containing the names of the candidates for office together with a brief review of their professional backgrounds. This ballot is to be mailed within sixty (60) days of nomination.
- Receives the results of the election from the Board of Canvassers and reports the results to the President and to the candidates prior to their being published in KeePosted™.
- Conducts the Council's correspondence as directed by the President.
Term of Office

Description
- Serves as the volunteer auditor of the Society's funds overseeing their receipt, disbursement and investment by the ICHP office staff on behalf of and at the direction of the Board of Directors.
- Serves as a member of the Board of Directors.
- Keeps a watchful eye for unusual and excessive expenditures to maintain a financial balance which allows the organization to maintain fiscal stability
- Oversees receipt of Council income and monitors the bank accounts.
- Monitors an accrual booking keeping system of all transactions which shall be open for inspection by an audit committee appointed by the Board of Directors.
- Reports regularly to the Board and submits financial statements as to the solvency of the Association.
- Works with the Executive Vice President to prepare a balanced budget with the assistance from the Committee on Finance and input from the Board of Directors.
- The Treasurer must consult with the Executive Vice President and Council accountant concerning any changes that must be made to the records, particularly those pertaining to the handling of money.
- Review and sign annually an audit of the Chapter's financial records as a responsibility of Treasurer.
- Reviews copies of most recent financial report, all previous financial records, budget and past incoming data pertaining to the affairs of the Organization.
- Receives and reviews accrued books and check registers.
- Monitors the day-to-day accounting system maintained by the ICHP accountant and reports a balance of income and expense using the current ICHP accounting system and software.
- Studies, advises and reports on the feasibility of special committee or Council activities which require the expenditures of funds beyond the budget capabilities.
- Presents reports of finances at Annual Meeting.
- Recommends sources of income and changes which will make Council fiscally sound.
- Provides budget information to Board members and KeePosted™ personnel in September in order to develop a budget for the calendar year.
- Meets with the Committee on Finance in late September or early October to finalize the next year's budget and presents to the Board of Directors for approval by the end of the current fiscal year.
- Serves as member and Chairman of the Committee on Finance and as a member of the Executive Committee.
- Monitors membership dues for deposited by ICHP office.
- Serves as member of the House of Delegates.
- Presents a report and financial statement at a session of the House of Delegates.

Description
- Presides at all sessions of the House of Delegates.
- Serves as a member of the Board of Directors; representing the House of Delegates.
- Appoints Committee on Nominations with approval of the Board of Directors by December 1.
- Calls special sessions of the House of Delegates upon written request from a majority of members of the House.
- Communicates with the Committee on Nominations.
- Conducts an open hearing for ICHP members prior to the House of Delegates meeting.
- Communicates with members of the House of Delegates.
- Communicates with affiliate chapter Presidents prior to the appointment of the Committee on Nominations for their input and recommendations for their chapter member on the Committee on Nominations.
- Assures that the Committee on Nominations has a slate of candidates to present to the House.
- Works with the ICHP Secretary and Executive Director to assure that reports, agenda, delegate kit, etc., are sent to Delegates on a timely basis (30 days prior to the meeting).
- Prepares an interim report to be distributed a minimum of two months prior to the Annual Meeting.
- Coordinates dates and locations for regional delegate conferences.
Description
- Shall attend all meetings of the Council's Board of Directors.
- Represents the Technician membership of the Council at meetings of the Board of Directors and shall act as a communication link between the two bodies.
- Coordinates all programs for the Technician membership of the Council.
- The Technician Representative serves as a voting member of the House of Delegates.
- The Technician Representative provides a written annual report of technician activities within ICHP to the House of Delegates.
Term of Office
- Two years (elected by the Technician Members).
Description
- Serves as a member of the Board of Directors.
- Directs the Executive Vice President or office staff to communicates with ASHP Director of Chapter Services to obtain ASHP membership list.
- Maintains contact with Membership Chairman of local affiliates.
- Organizes membership drives in conjunction with ASHP membership drive.
- Coordinates activities of the division and its subcommittees.
- Reports activities and recommendations to the Board.
- Prepares the annual report of the division activities and presents at the House of Delegates Annual Meeting.
- Gives concurrence of presidential appointments of the members to the Division of Service.
- Fills vacancies on the division of Service with the approval of the Board.
- Brings to the attention of the Board all "votes to recommend" from each Division of Service meeting with explanation of the sentiment at the meeting and conveys back to the Division of Service the results and action of the Board.
- Serves as a member of the House of Delegates.
- Accepts assignments from the Board on a specific matter for its consideration.
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors prior to representing themselves as acting on behalf of the Council when contacting other organizations.
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors to secure funds from sources outside the Council.
- Provides guidance to local affiliate officers in methods of successfully chairing an organization.
- Updates application form for membership.
- Coordinates membership recruitment and renewal program.
- Monitors activity and brings recommended changes to the Board for approval.
- Prepares annual budget for the Division of Service and submits it to the Finance Committee for approval in October of each year.

Description
- Coordinates the activities of the Division and its subcommittees. Reports activities and recommendations to the Board.
- Prepares an annual report of Division activities and presents it to the House of Delegates at the Annual Meeting.
- Serves as a member of the Board of Directors and the House of Delegates.
- Accepts assignments from the Board on specific matters for its consideration.
- Chairs the Educational Meeting Subcommittee to plan the ICHP Annual and Spring Meetings and other statewide educational activities as they are offered.
- Develops ICHP Position Statements related to pharmacy education and training as determined by the Division, the Board of Directors or the House of Delegates.
- Monitors ICHP's ACPE provider status and recommends changes to related policies and procedures as identified by the Division of Educational Affairs.
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors prior to presenting themselves as acting on behalf of the Council when contacting other organizations.
- Complies with Chapter 11.0 of this manual "Performance Requirements for Board Members, Officers and other ICHP Representatives".
- Provides immediate assignments and mentors for new division members.
- Conducts an annual roster review of the division and provides names of members to add or delete from the division roster for the coming year.
Term of Office
- Two years (elected by membership).
Description
- Serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors.
- Coordinates the activities and requests of the Board with the division and its subcommittees.
- Reports activities and recommendations of the division with the Board of Directors.
- Prepares report of division activities for presentation at the Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates.
- Communicates with state and federal lobbyists to maintain an awareness of legal issues. Communicates with state and federal legislators and the Board of Pharmacy to maintain awareness of legal issues.
- Reviews and interprets proposed legislation, changes in laws, bills, and regulations affecting pharmacy practice, Health-System pharmacy practice, and public health. Responds appropriately to these proposals and distributes information to the membership.
- Appoints division members with the approval of the Board.
- Represents the membership as a liaison to the Department of Professional Regulation to effectively problem solve.
- Works with the ICHP Executive Vice President to coordinates Illinois participation in the Legislative Alert System with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Term of Office
- Two years (elected by membership).
Description
- Coordinates the activities of the Division and its subcommittees. Reports activities and recommendations to the Board.
- Prepares an annual report of Division activities and presents it to the House of Delegates at the Annual Meeting.
- Serves as a member of the Board of Directors and the House of Delegates.
- Accepts assignments from the Board on specific matters for its consideration.
- Develops or may be directed to develop position statements relative to professional practice reflecting the viewpoint of the membership. Every position statement must be presented to the Board for approval. Once approved, the statements are presented at the next House of Delegates meeting for final approval. Once approved, the statements are incorporated into the policy and procedure manual.
- Review all present position statements every two years by reaffirmation and updating. All revisions shall be confirmed by the Board and approved by the House of Delegates.
- Upon request, the Division may develop professional standards relative to Health-System pharmacy practice. All standards must be confirmed by the Board, approved by the House of Delegates and reviewed every two years by the Division.
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors prior to presenting themselves as acting on behalf of the Council when contacting other organizations.

- Develops or may be directed to develop position statements relative to organizational issues reflecting the viewpoint of the membership. Every position statement must be presented to the Board for approval. Once approved, the statements are presented at the next House of Delegates meeting for final approval. Once approved, the statements are incorporated into the policy and procedure manual.
- Presents recommended changes to the Council's organizational structure or operations that will enhance and improve the effectiveness of the Council to the Board of Directors on behalf of the Division. These recommendations are based on deliberations by the Division with input from the general membership of ICHP.
- Presents changes to the ICHP Constitution and Bylaws recommended by the Division to the Board of Directors that are necessary to accomplish the organizations mission and goals more effectively.
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors prior to presenting themselves as acting on behalf of the Council when contacting other organizations.
- Complies with Chapter 11.0 of this manual "Performance Requirements for Board Members, Officers and other ICHP Representatives".
- Provides immediate assignments and mentors for new division members.
- Conducts an annual roster review of the division and provides names of members to add or delete from the division roster for the coming year.
Term of Office
- Two years (elected by membership).
Description
- Each of ICHP's three regions will be represented at the Board of Directors level by one elected Director as described in Article IV of these bylaws. It is the responsibility of each regional director to communicate to the members of his region on a regular basis by attending meetings of the local affiliates within his region, by written communications distributed by the ICHP office on his behalf or via e-mail using ICHP's membership list.
- The regional director will also serve as a voting member of the House of Delegates and will bring forth regional concerns and initiatives.
- The regional delegate must reside within the region in which he/she is elected and must be a pharmacist member of ICHP.
- The regional director may be asked to facilitate local discussions of critical issues facing ICHP to obtain member input and feedback. The regional director may also be asked to facilitate local affiliate continuing education programming in the absence of staff or affiliate officers.
