Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the pathophysiology of acetaminophen hepatotoxicity and how it relates to the Rumack/Matthews acetaminophen (APAP) nomogram
2. Describe the clinical course and the toxicokinetics of acetaminophen poisoning
3. Identify when use of the APAP nomogram may be inappropriate in choosing antidotal therapy
4. Differentiate between the different n-acetylcysteine treatment courses for APAP toxicity.
5. Determine which antidote regimen is appropriate for which type of acetaminophen-poisoned patient.
