Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this knowledge-based continuing pharmacy education activity, pharmacist participants should be able to:
1. Recall contraindications to anticoagulation.
2. Select anticoagulation for patients with or without contraindications to short-term warfarin therapy post Left Atrial Appendage Occulation (LAAO) device implantation.
3. Identify an anticoagulation plan including monitoring for patients with a miniaturized percutaneously inserted ventricular assist device (VAD).
4. Select appropriate purge solutions for patients with contraindications to heparin while using a miniaturized percutaneously inserted VAD.

PTCB requires CPhTs to submit 20 hours of pharmacy technician-specific (‘T-specific’) continuing pharmacy education (CPE) to qualify for recertification. Please advise all pharmacy technicians at your site of this change. As an ACPE accredited provider, ICHP will continue to include Technician specific programming in most if not all of our CPE programming. For PTCB recertification, CPhTs may use up to 5 hours of P-specific credit hours and CPhT-Adv up to 10 hours of P-specific credit hours.
