Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this knowledge-based continuing pharmacy education activity, pharmacist participants should be able to:

1. List the types of beta-lactam hypersensitivity reactions
2. Identify the risk of beta-lactam cross-reactivity
3. Given a patient scenario, select an appropriate antibiotic in a patient with a beta-lactam allergy

At the conclusion of this knowledge-based continuing pharmacy education activity, pharmacy technician participants should be able to:

1. List the types of beta-lactam hypersensitivity reactions
2. Describe the role of the pharmacy technician in managing beta-lactam allergies
3. State the types of testing available to challenge a beta-lactam allergy

      Attendees must complete a program evaluation and CPE submission online at www.CESally.com. After successful CPE submission to CPE Monitor, attendees may print their statements of continuing pharmacy education credit at NABP.pharmacy.

      Target Audience: This knowledge-based activity was developed for Health-System Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians

      PTCB requires CPhTs to submit 20 hours of pharmacy technician-specific (‘T-specific’) continuing pharmacy education (CPE) to qualify for recertification. Please advise all pharmacy technicians at your site of this change. As an ACPE accredited provider, ICHP will continue to include Technician specific programming in most if not all of our CPE programming.  For PTCB recertification, CPhTs may use up to 5 hours of P-specific credit hours and CPhT-Adv up to 10 hours of P-specific credit hours.
