Pathways to Patient Care // April 12-13, 2013

The Missouri Society and Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP/ICHP) are pleased to announce the 2013 Spring Meeting, being held Friday, April 12 through Saturday, April 13 at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Missouri.

“Pathways to Patient Care: Excellence in Health-System Pharmacy” is the theme for this year’s event and represents the ideas important to MSHP and ICHP this membership year. This includes setting strong paths for leadership in the advancement of pharmacy and the importance of practicing pharmacy with care and consideration for the patient. Event programming includes presentations for pharmacists, technicians and students on CPOE, diabetes management, the role of the pharmacy buyer, new drugs in 2013 and statute/regulation updates from the respective State Boards of Pharmacy. New this year are featured platform presentations from top poster submitters from each state. We are also honored to have American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Director of Federal Regulatory Affairs Chris Topoleski in attendance to participate in the lunch awards ceremony and Saturday’s afternoon general session.

In addition to stellar educational programming, the Spring Meeting will feature an exhibit and poster session, as well as a gift basket silent auction to benefit the MSHP R&E Foundation.

Friday’s keynote presentation will feature Scott Knoer, PharmD, MS, FASHP presenting Leadership as a Professional Journey. Dr. Knoer is the co-creator of the ASHP Managers’ Bootcamp, a program designed to teach leadership and management skills to pharmacists promoted to leadership positions who lack formal training.

New this year are platform presentations. Saturday’s programming will include 15-minute pearl presentations given by the top-scoring original poster presenters from each state.
